Earl C. Shepherd Jr., age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 18, 2016. He was born December 13, 1969 in McKeesport, the son of Patricia (Thomas) Novak and the late Earl C. Shepherd. He served in the Marines and went on to be a Police Officer in North Versailles, Glassport and the City of Pittsburgh. He also served as a Pittsburgh Firefighter, and worked several years as a Sports Performance Coach. Earl competed internationally on the U.S. Bobsled Team from 1996-2001.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by Lori Patterson, and their son Zane Shepherd; special friends Mario, Melissa, and Maureen Serrapere; sisters Tammy (Ron) Ehalt, Debbie Plummer and Michelle Novak; special aunt Maryann Babiak, many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his “brothers from another mother” Big Tony Yauch and Gary Shurina. Friends and Family will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Broadway Alliance Church, 1000 Broadway, East McKeesport. Interment will follow at the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.
