Michael James “Mick” Rosenbayger
Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | November 26, 2021
Michael James “Mick” Rosenbayger, 66, of Penn Township, formerly of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family whom he loved dearly, Monday, November 22, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Mariann (Schleifer) Rosenbayger; his children Chase, and wife Lauren, Rosenbayger of North Huntingdon and Brandon Rosenbayger of Irwin; step daughter Kristen Ann (Matt) Gaia and their family; and grandchildren Chase Jr., Myles, and Trey.
He was born May 4, 1955 in Braddock, a son of Catherine L. “Kitty” (McNeill) Rosenbayger of East McKeesport and the late William “Rosy” Rosenbayger.
He is also survived by brothers and sisters Randy (Lori) Rosenbayger, Gery (Lynne) Rosenbayger, Lynn (Bill) Brown, Connie Rosenbayger, Kathleen (David) Heckenstaller, and Diane (Tom) Santucci; father in law Charles Schleifer; brothers and sisters in-law Charles Schleifer, Donna (Bob) Ferrainolo, Gary (Kathleen) Schleifer, and Carole (Chet) Simile; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended families, and friends.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his mother in-law Millie Schleifer and nephews Sean Brown and Zack Starrett. Mick was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in East McKeesport. Mick and Mare loved to travel, taking family trips to the beach, Lake Winnipesaukee and recently to Deep Creek Lake. One of his greatest joys was being “Pap-Pap” to his 3 adoring grandsons; giving wagon rides, attending sporting events, Fridays at Ma’s, and vacation trips. Mick was an avid golfer with a lack of patience on the course where it wasn’t uncommon to see him slamming his club to the ground or be heard calling out certain obscenities. Though, it was that inevitable near-perfect shot that kept his love for the game intact. He, along with his loving wife, was a lifelong music and sports fan who enjoyed live music and sporting events. “Bub” was a hardworking man who for over 30 years worked as a project manager for System One, working throughout US Steel facilities and power plants. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway St., East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Monday at Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Robert Bellarmine Church. Interment will follow. Face coverings are required when attending the visitation and funeral Mass. For online condolences please visit www.snyderfuneralservices.com.
Cancer is a terrible disease that desperately needs a cure. There is not enough appreciation for the many doctors and nurses who are tasked with the difficult job of trying to care for their patient and family. Even more appreciation for spouses, like Michael’s, who so selflessly went above and beyond to make sure that he was well taken care of until the very end.
