Betty Jayne (Gillingham) Thompson, age 97, of Mt. Lebanon and formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Asbury Heights. She was a retired registered nurse at McKeesport Hospital, a graduate of McKeesport Hospital nursing class of 1945 and a member of the McKeesport Hospital Nurses Alumni. Born February 16, 1925 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Finley and Thelma (McIntosh) Gillingham and wife of the late James Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Jeffrey R. (Brenda) Thompson of Kemah, TX; four grandchildren, Jil (Michael) Tauch of Upper St. Clair, Nathan (Angela) Thompson of Peters Twp., Lauren and Connor Thompson, both of Kemah, TX; six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Grahm, Bennett and Eve Tauch, Jacob and Cooper Thompson; daughter-in-law, Marion Thompson of Peters Twp.; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James B. Thompson; sister, Colleen Ruffing; and brother, George Gillingham.

Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth, PA 15037 on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 12 Noon until the hour of service at 2PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Kim Grueser officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do a kind gesture for someone in Betty’s honor.
