Grace Eileen Bindas, 79, of North Huntingdon, passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 28, 2022. Affectionately known as Dirdle, she was born on February 13, 1943 in Raysal, WV, before moving to Clairton, PA. Grace graduated from Clairton High School in 1961. In Clairton, Grace met her loving husband, Johnny at just 16 years old. Grace and Johnny married on November 9, 1963. The two were the loves of each others' lives. She proudly worked at the University of Pittsburgh as an administrative assistant in Pulmonary Medicine and then retired from the University's School of Medicine. Grace enjoyed hosting Sunday family dinners, planting flowers, shopping, sewing, traveling with her AARP group, visiting her daughter in Massachusetts, meeting friends for lunch, munching on potato chips and surprising her loved ones with goodies ordered through QVC. Above all, Grace thrived on the love of her family. In her later years, Grace cherished returning to Raysal with family, taking the long, winding country roads back to the "holler" to see her birthplace. Grace is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Emma Grueso, and her two brothers, Emilio and Manuel Grueso. Dirdle's surviving loved ones include her husband, John of 58 years; children, Karen Sarge, John (Bonnie) Bindas, and Beth (Doug) Vernon; sister, Marie Warren; grandchildren, Rachael, Jakob, Noah, Morgan, Joshua; and her four-legged grand puppies, along with several nieces and nephews. Services are private. Arrangements made by the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to all of the doctors and nurses at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital who treated Grace like a member of their own families. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com
