Joseph Onofrey, age 91, of North Huntingdon passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022. Joseph was born on November 3, 1930 in Monessen, PA and graduated from Duquesne High School as class president and where he met his wife of 65 years. Because of his passion to serve our country, he enlisted in the United States Air Force.

He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and earned his Masters of Business Administration Degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Joseph was dedicated as LRA Plant Manager of Westinghouse Corporation in East Pittsburgh. He was an excellent public speaker and member of Toastmasters International.

Joe was a devout member of St. Agnes Church in North Huntingdon and served as Parish Council President, lector and proud to be founder of The Men’s Club. He especially enjoyed Cinnamon Roll Sundays and Family Pirate Baseball games.

In addition to his parents Joseph A. and Anna Onofrey, he is predeceased by brothers Michael and John Onofrey ; sister, Mary Kay Sutton and son-in-law Michael Dvorsky. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Serena; brother, Edward Onofrey and his wife Suzanne of Norman, Oklahoma; Robert Onofrey and his wife Joan of Boston, Massachusetts. Joseph’s children and spouses include son, Robert Onofrey and his wife Laurie of McKinney, Texas; daughter Karen Dvorsky of Jeannette; daughter, Gail Karanovich and her husband Kurt of Greensburg; son, Roy Onofrey and his wife Leslye of Washington, PA. Joe also has 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Our fondest family memories of dad are Father’s Day Water Battles, Hilton Head Vacations, and dad’s infamous dunking machine. We’d like to thank Redstone Highlands North Huntingdon, Nurses and Hospice for their extreme dedication and hard work. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: The Men’s Club of St Agnes Church, Redstone Highlands North Huntingdon and ACPMP Research Foundation. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church.
