John V. Pierce, age 93, of West Newton died September 10, 2016 at Frick Hospital. He was born May 21, 1923 in Mckeesport, son of the late Samuel and Sadie Webser Pierce. 

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, in which he was a POW. John was employed by Bettis as an x-ray technician and was a Freemason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annamay Reynolds Pierce, son, James, and siblings, William, Samuel, Raymond "Buck," and Beatrice "Aunt Bea." He is survived by grandchildren, Chad, Shane, Lacey, and Travis, great-grandchildren, Takoda and Trevor, and daughter in law, Phyllis. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home Inc, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, Tues 6-8 pm and Wed 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
