Earle Slawson Guffey

Earle Slawson Guffey, age 83, of Naples, FL, formerly of McKeesport and North Huntingdon, on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in Florida. He was born in McKeesport on November 21, 1938 and is the son of the late Judge James McClurg and Gretchen Slawson Guffey. He graduated from Penn State University in 1960 and was first in his class in business horticulture major. He was formerly the CEO of Johnston The Florist and Johnston’s greenhouses and owned and operated 25 floral shops located throughout Western Pennsylvania.

He is survived by sons, Stevenson (Michelle) Guffey of North Huntingdon; and Andrew J. (Amy) Guffey of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Christopher; Joshua; Matthew; Daniel; Mark Johnston (Devon); Carissa Lynn (Charles Morris); Benjamin Tyler (Katie); Dana (Evan Powell); Drew Stevenson (Kara); Stevie (Reed Chapman); Joseph Johnston; Julie Ann; Jacob Stevenson; Madison; Annabel; Andrew, II; great-grandchildren, Hayden; Paige; Laurel; Marlow; Harper; Cassidy; Sophia Lou; and sister, Susan Kintzler of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by Ann Johnston of North Huntingdon.

In addition to his parents, Earle was preceded in death by his sons, Mark Johnston Guffey, who died on December 27, 2018 and David E. Guffey, who died on March 5, 2019.

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, August 14, 2022 from Noon until 6:00 p.m. at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Round Hill Cemetery.
