Walter J. Kustra, 93, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022 peacefully at home.  He was born June 16, 1929 in McKeesport, a son of the late Anthony and Mary Ann Kustra.  Prior to his retirement, Walter was a pattern maker for US Steel, National Tube Works and when the department closed he transferred to the carpenter shop with a total of 35 years of service.  

He was a graduate of McKeesport High School Class of '48 where he was a WPIAL All State Guard and class president.  Walter was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War and a  member of St. Agnes Parish and P.N.A. McKeesport Lodge 352.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, growing his garden and spending time at his log cabin hunting camp that he and his son built.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Macik) Kustra; brother, John Kustra; and sister, Stella Ruccio.  He is survived by his loving children, Ronald Kustra; daughters, Roberta Hoffmann and Lisa Kustra; brother, Albert Kustra; sisters, Irene Squires, Eleanor Todaro; grandchildren, Anthony and Nicole.  Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA  15642.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1 p.m. in St. Agnes Church.  Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, N.
