Gerard C. Driscoll, age 96, of Forward Twp., passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Excela Health Frick Hospital. A veteran of the Army and Merchant Marines having served during World War II, he retired as a millwright team leader at U.S. Steel Irvin Works in West Mifflin. He was a president of the Three Rivers Chapter American Merchant Marine Veterans (AMMV), former president of the Mon Valley Chapter of Merchant Marines and White Oak American Legion. He was the owner of a hunting camp and was an avid deer hunter. He loved family events and spending time with family. Born August 7, 1926 in White Oak, he was a son of the late Charles and Ellen (Wilson) Driscoll and husband of the late Mary Rita (Gallagher) Driscoll. He is survived by daughter, Cynthia (Russell) Komlos of Elizabeth; granddaughters, Shannon (David) Fitzgibbons of West Mifflin and Ashlyn (Kyle Hunt) Preaux of Myrtle Beach, SC; great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Kyle Joseph Hunt, Lucille Caroline Hunt and Galen Fitzgibbons; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tim Burgan officiating. Burial with military honors and a bagpiper will be Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 12:30 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
