Mark Ammon Maletta, 62, of Duquesne, affectionately known as son, brother, uncle, dad, pap pap, friend, and “True,” died December 8, 2022. Mark was the beloved son to the late James and Norma Jean (Sparks) Maletta.

Mark was a graduate of Clairton High School, Class of 1978. After graduation, Mark enlisted into the United States Army, along with his lifelong friend Jimmy Nash, where he worked as a mechanic. Mark was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and later stationed in Germany. Mark enjoyed his Germany days which allowed him to travel to beautiful countries in Europe.

Mark attended Rosedale Technical Institute earning a degree in Diesel Mechanics. Mark was employed by several companies including Midas Muffler, Meineke, and later Greyhound. Mark then met the love of his life Carla McPherson-Love. In 1988, Mark and Carla gave birth to their son Ian James Ammon Maletta, which he referred to as "his life." Carla and Mark remained loving friends and great parents. Later, Mark married Carol Maletta and had an extended family with her children Randy and Leah. Mark later was employed at Superior Windows and became a supervisor. Mark was also hired with CVS Pharmacy, traveling the east coast doing carpentry, maintenance, etc. Along with his full-time employment, Mark also was self-employed with his brother Norman starting their business Maletta Construction. He always had a job to do, carpentry, painting, mechanics, etc.

Mark had a personality that many didn’t understand. Mark was a fast-talking man, but he always said, "I don’t talk fast, you just listen slow." Mark was loving, caring, and talented. He enjoyed life on his own terms. Along with his love for work he enjoyed sports, music, hanging out with friends, no matter what he did through the week on Sundays, you couldn’t bother him because he enjoyed his racing.

Mark had a love for children and was blessed to witness "his life" Ian unite in marriage to his daughter-in-love Kayla Maletta. Mark was also blessed with his first grandson Eren Robert Ammon Maletta whom he loved immensely. Mark was loved by many. His brothers and sisters. His aunt and uncles. His cousins and friends and women were his favorite along with his nieces and nephews. HE WAS THAT UNCLE! As he always said, "real recognize real"! Mark also was a great uncle to his great nephew Jayce Jordan JoLawni Rumble which brought him much joy.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, James Leon Maletta and Norma Jean Sparks Maletta, and brother Andrew Maletta. Mark is survived by his beloved son and daughter in law, Ian (Kayla) Maletta, grandson, Eren Robert Ammon Maletta, three sisters, Tirann Udosen, Miriam Maletta, Dorcas Rumble, three brothers, James Maletta, Michael Maletta, Norman Maletta, extended family, and friends. Mark was loved and will truly be missed and never forgotten and we will end this tribute with his favorite saying LBG...LOOK BETTER GONE!
