Rosemary Chalfant, age 75, of White Oak, died December 24, 2022, at UPMC East Hospital. Born February 22, 1947, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Emma (Littleton) DiLucia and wife of the late Thomas R. Chalfant. Rosemary worked for Gimbel's at Eastland Mall and then for Kmart. She enjoyed looking for a good deal at thrift stores and yard sales with her daughter Karen. Rosemary was an avid reader, especially Beverly Lewis novels. Beverly Lewis mostly wrote about the Amish, which fueled Rosemary's interest in the Amish culture and even prompted a few trips to Amish communities. Rosemary cherished her family and vacations with them along the beaches of the East Coast and Niagara Falls.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Jarett) Evan; granddaughter, Megan Fitzpatrick; brother, Jack Ruffner. In addition to her parents and husband, Rosemary was also preceded in death by a brother, Samuel DiLucia. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
