Virginia E. Pavel, age 88, of McKeesport, died February 5, 2023, at UPMC East.  Born December 9, 1934, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Winkler) Wiater and wife of the late George A. Pavel.  

Virginia was the President of the Mon Yough Senior Citizens Friendship Club in McKeesport and also President of the Christy Park Seniors.  She kept active with both groups by always coordinating the bingos and ensuring things went smoothly.  Virginia also was a seamstress and was contracted to make puppets for sale based on a popular children's puppet show.  She was also the quintessential mom, not only raising her children but helping to raise her grandchildren as well.  Virginia is survived by her sons, Gary G. (Denise) Pavel, of White Oak, and George J. (Christine) Pavel, of Geneva, IL; grandchildren, David, Trisha (Eric) Biel, Kristine (Matthew) Abell, Joseph (Drew), and Emily; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Mila, and Cora; brother, Vernon (Barbara) Wiater, of North Huntingdon and also nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, David Pavel; daughter-in-law, Patricia (White) Pavel; sisters, Mildred Sekerchak and Josephine Lombardo.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Church on Monday at 10 a.m.   Burial will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.  Chris Odasso, Supervisor
