Ruth T. Andrews of White Oak, four months shy of her 100th birthday, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at The Willows of Presbyterian SeniorCare. Born February 8, 1917 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Thomas) Tonks, and loving wife of the late Frank Andrews. Ruth was a former member of the Ballantyne United Methodist Church as well as the Wesley United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving as the church librarian. She most recently attended Sampson's Mills Church, serving as one of their Deacons, and dedicated her free time volunteering for the various church functions. She also enjoyed her time spent as a Brownie Leader and Girl Scout Leader, and was a member of the McKeesport Music Club, along with being a charter member and past president of the White Oak Women's Club. In her earlier years, she worked in Washington DC in a Naval research lab during WWII and later went on to dedicate her time as an administrative assistant for Goodwill. She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Gregory) McCullough of Monroeville; grandchildren, Jenni (Mike) Repcik and Erin (Steve) Shakoske; great-grandchildren, Lily, Cash, Emery “Emey” and Monroe “Roe”; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Tonks and sister, Jennett Johnson. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 1-5 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Scott Dennis will officiate. Burial will follow at McKeesport-Versailles Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Willows of Presbyterian SeniorCare, 1215 Hulton Rd., Oakmont, PA 15139, who provided such wonderful to Ruth.
