Gertrude J. Mitko, age 87 of Clairton, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Born February 8, 1929 in Connellsville , she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Luczak) Christobek. A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton and avid card player, Gertrude retired after 20+ years at McDonald's in Pleasant Hills.

She joins her husband of 58 years, the late Joseph S. Mitko, who passed away January 18, 2007 and was also preceded in death by her siblings Anthony Christobek, Elizabeth Frederick, and Eleanor Dupej. Gertrude is survived by her children Joseph R. (Jackie) Mitko of West Mifflin, Mary Ann Mitko of Bethel Park, Ronald P. (Renee) Mitko of Jefferson Hills, and Elaine (Robert) Fankulewski of Mercer; her grandchildren Joel (Erin) and Jessica Mitko, Lesly (Stephen) Kasky, Ronad P. (Lindsey) Mitko, Jr., and Emily Fankulewski; her great-grandchildren Austin and Riley Mitko, Cooper Mitko, and Emma Kasky; and also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 5th. St., Clairton, PA 15025 (412-233-5700) on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 4 to 9 PM and on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 8 AM until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Clare of Assisi Church.
