Mollie Theresa Claar 90, of Elizabeth Township passed away Friday, March 24, 2023. She was born February 23, 1933 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Gust and Catherine (Bosnak) Navaroli. She was the loving wife of the late Albert Bryce Claar who passed away September 16, 2010; and the mother of the late David Albert Claar who passed away October 15, 2015.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Ted) Shaffer of Elizabeth Township, and Carol (Dave) Murtha of Punta Gorda, Fl. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Daniel (Jessica) Murtha, Jesse (Kelsey) Kalpakis, Jordan (Kelsey) Claar, Nicholas Kalpakis, Dylan Murtha, Jade Claar, and Rachel (Brandon) Shaffer; and great grandchildren Vivienne and Frances Murtha, and Bryce Kalpakis. She is also survived by sister-in-laws, Joanne Navaroli of Westmoreland City, and Shirley Navaroli of Delmont; many nieces and nephews; and her dear best friend of 75 years, Dolly Decker of Winter Park, Fl. She was preceded in death by her brothers Johnny, Gus, and Joe Navaroli, and sisters, Kathryn Pugh, and Dolores Popovich. She was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Patrick’s Church in McKeesport. Mollie was truly and dearly loved by her family as she was known for her delicious nut rolls, fudge, cookies and cheese balls during the holidays. Her family would tease her as her favorite passion was to shop. She enjoyed telling stories of the past for hours and enjoying time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
