Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Trepanowski, 96, of White Oak, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023. Born on November 12, 1926, she was the eldest of the nine children of the late John and Mary (Faron) Kovalyak. Betty was a member of Ascension Church in Clairton. She graduated from Clairton High School and worked at the A & P Supermarket in Clairton and in the South Allegheny School District cafeteria system. She married the love of her life, John F. Trepanowski, Jr. in 1956. Unfortunately, he was taken from us too early, in 1965. Her favorite things to do were spending time with family, enjoying good food, visiting casinos, and playing bingo and Pokeno.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters Paula J. Pope and Deborah M. Filson (both 2021), and her brothers George, John, Paul, and Michael. She is survived by her son John J. Trepanowski (Casi); grandchildren John Michael Filson (Janelle), Justin Filson (Rebecca), Casey Filson (Kelley), Dennis Filson, Jr., Dr. John F. Trepanowski, Amanda Mahan (Dan), Dr. Nicole Trepanowski, Emily Grossi, and Paulette Williams; great-grandchildren Jackson, Josephine, John Michael Jr., Cheyenne, Leo, McKenna, Patrick, Gavin, Eden, Owen, Zhara, and Arrow; brothers Joseph Kovalyak and James Kovalyak; and sisters Mary Zaken and Ann Chorgo. Friends are welcome on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131. Mass will be held at the Mary, Mother of God, Corpus Christi Church on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at the St. Mary Czestochowa Polish Cemetery.
