James Edward Quantz

James Edward Quantz, 73, of Elizabeth Township, died suddenly on Friday, June 16, 2023 while riding on the Yough Bike Trail. He was born May 28, 1950 in McKeesport and was the son of the late James Leroy and Mary Theresa (Germack) Quantz. James was retired from Keystone Oaks High School where he had taught Social Studies for 35 years. He was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greenock. James was a 1968 graduate of McKeesport High School and received his Bachelor and Masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan.

He is survived by his companion, Christine Wittman of Bethel Park, nieces, Kristine Intrieri of Elizabeth Township and Barbara (Justin) Crousey of West Mifflin, a nephew, Michael (Robin) Jones of Westmoreland City and his beloved Bassett Hound, Louie. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Jones and brother-in-law, Joseph Jones. Friends are welcome Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 2-6 pm., at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director.
