Joseph Como, 90, of Irwin, formerly of Greenock, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2023. He was born December 30, 1932 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Anthony and Lena (DiMarino) Como. He was the husband of the late Florence Marie "Flossie" (Abercrombie) Como who passed away July 19, 2008. Joseph was retired from the US Postal Service and was a US Marine Veteran serving in the Korean War. For his service he received the US Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Elizabeth Township Ex-Serviceman's Club, the Buena Vista Fire Co. and the Marine Veterans.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph Thomas (Cheryl) Como of Irwin and Jeffery Anthony (Dawn) Como of Boston, grandchildren, Sarah Como (Matt) Lenart, Megan Como (Steve) Denk, and Jacob (Josie) Como, great-grandchildren, Josie Lenart, Caden Lenart, Paisley Denk, Connor Denk and Kayleigh Denk, brother, Anthony (Joanne) Como of St. Augustine, FL., and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Joyce (Zewe) Como. Friends are welcome Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 2-6 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 6pm. Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 at 11 am at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon. (Everyone please met at the cemetery). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Joseph's name to The Buena Vista Fire Hall, 3333 Fire Station St, Buena Vista, PA 15018.
