Joanne (Cyphers) Sujeta, age 88, of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at home. She was a long-time member of the National Rifleman’s Association (NRA), a member of the Firearm Owners Against Crime (FOAC), and she helped campaign for Republican candidates. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, she was a member of the Clairton Anglers Club, and she enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing, and spring walks at the East Broadtop Railroad. Born July 30, 1935 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Ann (Hrapchak) Cyphers and wife of the late Emil G. Sujeta. She is survived by a daughter, Eleanor Sujeta of Pleasant Hills; sons, Emil (Gayle) Sujeta of Elizabeth Twp., David (Linda) Sujeta of Jefferson Hills, and Michael Sujeta of Jefferson Hills; grandchildren, Alan Sujeta of Elizabeth Twp., and Amanda (Adam) Sujeta of Elizabeth Twp.; sisters, Ellen Andrewson of Finleyville and Jeanie McBride of Jefferson Hills; also, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Adam Stump officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
