Gerald E. “Jerry” Kunkel, age 61, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at HCR ManorCare Bethel Park. He was a machinist and mechanic at U.S. Steel Irvin Works with 35 years of service and a member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp.

Jerry was a family man through and through with everything he did. He was a great provider, loved his family and his passion for all things automotive, and was thoughtful, wise, and insightful. He touched the lives of everyone he met as a most genuine and peaceful man. He will be greatly missed by all. Born October 24, 1955 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Kenneth S. and Agnes F. (Blank) Kunkel. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Janet M. (Betz) Kunkel; son, Ryan J. Kunkel at home; brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Kunkel of Elizabeth Twp., James (Carolyn) Kunkel, Sr., of Finleyville, Charles (Debbie) Kunkel of Forward Twp and Dennis (Janet) Kunkel of Jefferson Hills; also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Jordan and a brother, David Kunkel. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 N. 2nd. Ave., Elizabeth, PA 15037 (412-384-4344) on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM and Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 10 AM in St. Michael Parish with Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
