Charles W. "Chub" McGowan, age 96, of Baton Rouge, formerly of Clairton, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Landmark of Baton Rouge. He was a former maintenance superintendent for P.I.C.C.O./Hercules in Clairton, and Exxon in Baton Rouge. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. An Army Air Force veteran serving during WWII, he was a member of American Legion Post 38 in Baton Rouge and the "Lucky Bastard Club."
Born July 9, 1920 in West Mifflin, he was a son of the late Gorden and Lucy (Beam) McGowan and husband of 67 years to the late Lois J. McGowan. He is survived by daughter, Bonnie (Hugh) Templeton of Loveland, CO; son, Donald "Mac" (Helen) McGowan of Baton Rouge, LA; five grandchildren, Bryan (Deirdre) Templeton of Seattle, WA, Glen (Heather Craig) Templeton of Waltham, MA, Donald (Sharon) McGowan of Fredericksburg, VA, Patrick (Katie) Berggren of New Bethlehem, PA, and Nicole Berggren of Pensacola, FL; three great-grandchildren, Serena, Olivia and Bodi McGowan; sister, Ruth Smith of North Huntingdon; brother, Gorden (Janet) McGowan of Bethel Park; also, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Friday, November 18, 2016, from 6 to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 12 noon in Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Molly Lea Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
