John D. "Jack" Riley, age 95, of Liberty Borough, died January 30, 2024, at the Southwestern Veterans Center. Born October 4, 1928, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Emerson and Hazel (Burkert) Riley and the husband of Mabel (Springer) Riley for 57 years.Jack graduated from McKeesport High School and attended Robert Morris before enlisting in the Army. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he began his career as an accountant and worked for Peoples Gas for 32 years. Jack was a member of the Harry S. Truman Lodge 765 F & A.M., Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Evangelical Congregational Church, and the Port Vue United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.
Jack met his wife, Mabel, while singing in the choir, at the Beulah Park United Methodist Church. Jack enjoyed bowling and golfing, whether in a league or just for fun. He was also involved with the Junior Achievement of Western PA. Above all else, he loved and cherished his family.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by children, Laurel (Raymond) Castro, Leslie (Edward) Angell, Jeffrey (Angela) Riley, Kenneth (Christine) Riley and Cynthia (Cathy) Paul; grandchildren, Brett (Kaitlen) Morgan, Kristen (Andrew) Wojdyla, Kayla Castro, Leah (Domenick) Scalfari, Laura Wainer, and Jackson Riley; great grandchildren, Mila, Sophie, Bennett, Brantley and Domenick. Additional grandchildren include Howard, Crystal, Kristina, Danielle, Sean, Ashley, and David; additional great grandchildren include Teegan, Chase, Carson, Elianna, Kayce, Timothy, Jaysen, Jaxson, Emma, and Callie Mae. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Riley.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 2 p.m. until the funeral service at 7 p.m. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com. Chris Odasso, Supervisor
