Thelma J. Rugg, age 93, of Port Vue, died February 12, 2024, at Forbes Hospital AHN of Monroeville. Born August 19, 1930, in Uniontown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Weaver) Tressler and the wife of the late George C. Rugg.
Thelma was a floral designer for many years for the former Johnston The Florist but spent most of her time raising her four children. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting in her early years. Thelma was always ready for a good card game as well. She and her family spent most of their summers on Lake Erie.

After her children were grown and on their own, Thelma and her late husband George relocated to Mt Davis after his retirement, where they truly loved and enjoyed the outdoors. Thelma would fish and hunt with the best of them. They made many trips by motorhome back and forth across the country and especially enjoyed the Great Smoky Mountains of TN. Thelma was an avid outdoors person, loving nature and animals of all kinds. Her whole life, she always had at least one or two dogs and a few cats. She fed the deer and even some bears that were frequent visitors to camp. Not to mention tending to the bird feeders and naming most of the animals that visited. Mt. Davis was a special place where family and friends would gather on weekends to hunt, fish, and sit around the fire. When her husband died in 2012, Thelma moved back home to Port Vue; she spent the last year and a half of her life in an assisted living home nearby in Whitehall, PA.
Thelma is survived by her children, Joseph (Carol) and Linda all of McKeesport, George (Pam) of Danville, CA, Gary (Lori) of Spotsylvania, VA; grandchildren, Dana, Rebecca Jo, Caitlin, Thomas, Jonathan, and Gary; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, Gionni, Mateo, Nico, Brennan, Kevin, and two more on the way; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Thelma was also preceded in death by her siblings, Thurman, Daisy, Evelyn, and Geraldine.
Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.
