Janet T. Egan, age 88 of North Huntingdon, passed away on February 28th, 2024 at Redstone Highlands in Greensburg. She was born on September 15, 1935 in Washington D.C., a daughter of the late Herbert and Maude Sidbury Thayer. Prior to her retirement, Janet was employed by Norwin School District as a first grade teacher at Stewartsville Elementary. She was a member of the McKeesport Book & Novel Club and Irwin Garden Club. Janet loved flower and vegetable gardening. She spent time reading poetry and literature, and enjoyed researching her family's genealogy. Janet was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Most of all, she looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her sisters Susan Fretts and Nancy Ligon. She is survived by her beloved husband Ed Egan, daughters Nancy Sue Bevan (Richard), Julia Ann Bengochea (Armando), brothers-in-law Carl Fretts and Ed Ligon, grandchildren Matthew, Elena, Ben, Sam, and Julia, and great-grandchildren Maggie and Brady. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon PA, on Sunday from 1 P.M to 4 P.M. Interment will take place in Mt.
