John Herbert Anderson, 82, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 2, 1941 in Seneca, South Carolina and was the son of the late Edgar Coleman and Lydia Alice (Blackburn) Anderson. He grew up in China Grove, North Carolina and graduated from China Grove High School. He furthered his education at Wake Forest University and earned his P.H.D in Physics from the University of Virginia. John would retire after 38 years of service as a Fellow Scientist at The Westinghouse/Bechtel-Bettis Power Laboratory. He was a faithful and active member of The First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport. John loved his family and his church. He loved classical music, books and computers. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Lorna Lynn Anderson; daughter, Gayla Lynn (R. Darren) Gessler; granddaughter, Madalana Gessler and extended family and friends.

There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Mount Vernon Cemetery with The Rev. Kevin Labby, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's name may be made to First Evangelical Free Church, 4001 University Dr, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412) 678-6655.
