 Mark D. Gowaty, age 70, of North Versailles, died July 14, 2024, at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Born November 1, 1953, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude (Adamus) Gowaty.

A 1972 McKeesport Area High School graduate, Mark went on to further his education at CCAC South, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Horticulture. Throughout his career, Mark worked diligently, starting at Green's Five and Dime, then McCroy's in Steubenville, and dedicating over three decades of service at U.S. Steel.

Mark was not only a diligent worker but also an active member of the community. He was a former member of the Slovak Club and Polish National Alliance Lodge 352 in McKeesport, where he formed lasting friendships and connections. Mark played on the former Sacred Heart Men's Softball Team, showcasing his passion for the game.

During his leisure time, Mark found solace in nature's beauty. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, nurturing his love for the outdoors. Mark's green thumb was also evident in his passion for gardening. He took immense pride in tending to his garden, cultivating various vegetables and fruit trees with care and dedication.

Mark is survived by his siblings, Philip (Sue Moore) Gowaty and Margaret Gowaty. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Gowaty. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Parish, Corpus Christi Church. Rev. Daniel J. D'Antonio will officiate. The burial will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com
