Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | August 27, 2024

Florence M. Shively, age 96, of White Oak, formerly of Liberty Borough, died August 25, 2024, at Riverside Care Center. Born May 18, 1928, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Bales and Flora (McCracken) Marks and the wife of the late Clyde Shively.  Florence's life was rich with joy and purpose.  Professionally, Florence worked in the banking industry for almost 40 years, for the former Union National Bank. A beloved Church of Life in Christ member, she served as the choir director, and her passion for music shone through her natural soprano voice. She appeared in musical theater as well with the South Allegheny Players and the McKeesport Choraliers. She faithfully supported the McKeesport Tiger football and girls' basketball teams, cheering on the teams with unwavering enthusiasm.  In her quieter moments, Florence found solace in her hobbies. She enjoyed spending time on her computer playing solitaire and indulging in a little online shopping. However, it was the memories made while traveling with her late husband, specifically their trips to his 10th Armored Battle of the Bulge reunions, which held a special place in her heart. As a proud Nana, she delighted in watching her grandsons grow and flourish.

Florence is survived by her son, Russell (Marsha) Shively; grandsons, Marc, Caleb, and Noah Shively; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by siblings Paul Marks and Helen Wakefield.  Arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. A private viewing and burial will take place at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.  Chris Odasso, Supervisor
