It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty J. Kovac, aged 86, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Betty entered into eternal rest on August 30, 2024, at UPMC East of Monroeville, with her beloved daughter by her side. She was born on October 8, 1937, in McKeesport, to her late parents, Michael and Rose (Plunko) Samurda. Betty was the wife of the late Paul G. Kovac, Jr., and cherished mother of her daughter, Kristi Lynn.

She fondly remembered high school days and was a graduate of McKeesport High School, class of 55. She treasured high school friendships that she maintained for over 70 years (Gloria and Fran). She was thoughtful, never forgetting a birthday or special occasion, had a wonderful sense of humor, loved reading and sharing articles that she thought you would be interested to read. She loved fall, gardening with her daughter, spending time with family and was happy with the simple joys in life. Rest easy mom, no one deserves it more than you.
In addition to her daughter, Betty is survived by grandson, Craig A. "C.J." Kovac, Jr.; sister, Teresa (the late Frank) Maglicco); brother, Michael "Mick" Samurda of Georgia; also nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Along with her husband and parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her beloved sons, Craig A. Kovac, Sr. and Paul G. Kovac, III; also a sister, Dolores (the late John) Demis.
Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.
A private graveside service will be held in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery.
