Joseph P. Como, Esquire, age 74, of McKeesport, died September 12, 2024, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born November 9, 1949 in Palena, Italy, he was the son of the late Luigi and Ida (Toppi) Como, and life partner to Janet Toner.
Joe earned a law degree from Samford University Cumberland School of Law, a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Edinboro University, and his Masters Degree in Labor Law from New York University. He worked for 30 years as the Chief Law Clerk for Pennsylvania State Superior Judge Zoren Popovich and was a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Palenese League of America, and was on the McKeesport Zoning Board for many years. Joe loved his work and would always strive to achieve perfection. He was a humble, honest, kind, and fair man, and will be so deeply missed by our family. Joe was an avid sports fan, loved baseball and especially the Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed watching movies with special effects.
He is survived by his companion, Janet Toner of McKeesport; sisters, Assunta Tyskiewicz of McKeesport and Antonietta (Walt) Wdowiak of Mars, PA; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Bob) Scherrer, Joe Tyskiewicz, Susan (Doug) Trabandt, Sean (Amanda) Wdowiak, Rachel (Nathan) Herring, Nathan Wdowiak and Jeremy Wdowiak; great nieces and nephews, Olivia, Max, Stella, Grace, Lewis, Molly, Maebel, Leo, Isla, and William.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Pete Como.
There is no viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, Mary Mother of God Parish. Committal will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery.
