Kathleen Toury, age 85, of Brier Hill, PA, died on Saturday, December 21, 2024. She was born January 14, 1939, in McKeesport, PA, and is the daughter of the late William Joseph and Anna Maley Spang.
She worked many years as a waitress and hostess for the Youghiogheny Country Club, where she met her loving husband, Ibrahim Toury. After their marriage, they moved to Brier Hill, PA, and Kathleen began working at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. She loved her new job, was a very dedicated employee.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved her life in the country, her many German Shephard dogs, and cheering on her beloved steelers.
Kathleen was the crazy, funny one in any situation, always making everyone laugh. Her family and friends will always remember her driving her lawn mower, cutting that grass with her Diet Pepsi in her hand, blasting her "Elvis" on the way down Route 40 to take the kids for ice cream. Especially the Christmases spent at the lake with her dancing, singing, and leading the "Jingle Bell" parade all through the house.
In addition to her husband, Kathleen is survived by her children, Michelle “Shelly” Gessner of White Oak, PA; Donald M. (Carol) Lotz, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Don Lotz; Cristin (Dave Lewis) Lotz; Jennifer Gessner; Jodi Gessner; Garrison Vanzin; Persephone Hall; and Mason McCall; great-grandchildren, Kylie Lewis; Chucky Bouchard; Bradley Lewis; Annaleigh Bouchard; Brycen Bouchard; Logan Barton; Willow Bouchard; and Lincoln Bouchard; sisters, Jean (the late Anthony) DePodesta of White Oak, PA; and Theresa Salak of Elizabeth, Twp; along with step-daughter, Yara Toury of Canonsburg, PA.
In addition to Kathleen’s parents, she is preceded in death her siblings, Mary Salopek; Anna Mae Palakovic; Robert Spang; Ambrose Spang; and Rose Jackson.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. when services will be held at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc. 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177).
