Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | February 21, 2025

George T. Stevens, Sr., age 76, of McKeesport, died at home on February 19, 2025.  Born April 2, 1948, in Ruffs Dale, he was the son of the late Donald and Alberta (Adams) Stevens and husband of Lavinia (Ludwick) Stevens for 54 years.
Born into a loving family, George met the love of his life, Lavinia, at the tender age of 15 at the Buena Vista skating rink, beginning a lifelong journey that showcased their unwavering bond. George's passion for music blossomed in his youth when he played in a band with his brothers, known fondly as The Stevens Brothers and The Notations.  Those early days of harmony and laughter set the stage for a life filled with rhythm.
For 32 devoted years, George served as a delivery driver for Nutrition Inc., a role that brought him joy in connecting with the community.  Outside of work, he found solace in his garden, nurturing flowers and creating a sanctuary that reflected his warmth and nurturing spirit.

An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, George found joy in sharing music with Lavinia, filling their home with the soulful sounds of The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, The Dells, and The Manhattans.  But above all, it was his love for family that defined George's life.  He took great pride in raising a family with Lavinia, creating a legacy of love and togetherness that will carry on through generations.
He is survived by children, George Jr. (Lisa) Stevens, Laurel Stevens, and Amber (Joshua) Hutton; grandchildren, Megan Stevens, Matthew Stevens, Danielle (Nicholas Dennis) Lazar, Donovan Woytsek, Ashton Woytsek, and Dakota Woytsek; great-grandchildren, Freya and Hayes; siblings, Deborah, Darlene, Sandra, Tammy, Kim, Kelly, Lisa, Patty, Michael, Guy, and Frank; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Russell, Wayne, Quint, Donna, and Carolyn.  Family and friends are invited to meet at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. for the funeral procession.  A service will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Round Hill Cemetery Chapel.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com.
