Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | March 25, 2025
Harold D. Hobson, age 76, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died at home on March 24, 2025. Born September 24, 1948, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Harold and Blanche (Hannegan) Hobson and the loving husband of Bonnie (Groves) Hobson for 50 years. Harold was known not only for his skilled work as a body man and the pride he took in running his own shop but also for the warmth and kindness he extended to his family, friends, and customers alike. Harold attended First Evangelical Free Church. His love for music was evident in his passion for doo-wop, which brought him joy throughout his life. Despite losing his vision, Harold remained undeterred in his passion for storytelling, finding great pleasure in listening to audiobooks that transported him to new worlds, and he found comfort in watching reruns of "Gunsmoke," where his imagination could still bring the characters to life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Alan Hobson; grandsons, Troy and Rogan Smoyer; brothers-in-law, Gary (Sue) Groves and Joseph (Rosie) Groves; sisters-in-law, Wendy (Robert) Wassel, Sherri (Todd) Show, and Terri Crow; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Carol Humphries, Gary Hobson, and Roger Hobson. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 10 a.m. at First Evangelical Free Church. The burial will follow at McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
