Mary Ann (Voyten) Valentovish, of Duquesne, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on March 24, 2025. Born on September 10, 1937 in Mount Pleasant PA, she lived life to its fullest in her 87 years. She was married for 59 years to her beloved husband and best friend, Eugene “Gene” Valentovish, who passed away in 2014. Together, they created a home where laughter and love thrived, and everyone was welcome. When diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 13 months ago, she faced each day with the same strength, faith and optimism she was known for all her life, considering every additional moment with her cherished family a gift from God.
She was involved in many activities over the years that focused on her faith and family. She took great pride in everything she did and always showed compassion. After raising her 5 children, she attended Community College of Allegheny County and became a medical secretary. During her 30 years with UPMC Shadyside Ambulatory Surgical Unit, she never missed a day of work and looked forward to helping patients and families.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. Affectionately known as "Nana" to many, she cheered everyone on, offering unconditional love, encouragement and even pretzel jello. Throughout her life, even in her final days, she rarely missed a grandchild’s sporting event, concert or dance recital, often traveling through multiple states on the same day to attend all.
She is survived by her children: Glory (Alan) Koerbel, Kathleen (Gerald) Potter, Kristin (Thomas) Legin, Lisa Valentovish, and Gregg (Shelly Seanor) Valentovish. Also surviving are her precious grandchildren: Jordan Potter, Ashley (Kyle) Steinour, Allison Koerbel, Joseph Legin and Breana, Bayden and Bryson Valentovish; loving brother, Frankie (Janet) Voyten, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary (Borza) Voyten, her in-laws, Leon and Hattie (Marosz) Valentovish, brother, Charles Voyten and his wife, Stephanie (Kundrat).
Family and friends will be received Saturday, March 29th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Sunday, March 30th from 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne. A blessing service will take place at the memorial home on Monday, March 31st at 10:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Worship Site (West Mifflin) of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, with the Rev.
