Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | April 03, 2025
Eddie Lee Caldwell, Jr., a proud veteran and devoted father, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in Coarsegold, California. Born on June 30, 1959, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Eddie lived a life marked by service, passion, and dedication to both family and community.
The son of the late Eddie Lee Caldwell, Sr. and Rosalie Lillian Gravit, Eddie carried forward a legacy of strength and resilience. He served his country honorably as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army for 7 years. His time in the military reflected his unwavering commitment to duty and discipline—qualities that would continue to define him throughout his life. Following his military duty, he spent 25 years in healthcare working in various roles retiring as an Environmental Services Manager.
Eddie was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife Christine Caldwell; brother, John Caldwell; five sisters, Linda Caldwell, V. Caldwell, Pearl Culberson, Cathleen Caldwell, and Turena Scales; three daughters, Yesenia, Athena, and Angelee, and his three sons, Asaad, Jose, and Jarred. His role as a father was central to who he was; he took great pride in guiding and supporting his children through every stage of their lives.
Beyond his family and military service, Eddie found joy in many passions. A lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, he cheered for his team with enthusiasm each season. He also had a deep love for music and often expressed himself through the soulful rhythms of his bass guitar. Fishing brought him peace and connection with nature - a pastime he cherished whenever he could find time by the water.
Perhaps most notably within his community, Eddie dedicated himself to coaching youth wrestling. His mentorship extended beyond the mat; he instilled values of perseverance, respect, and teamwork in countless young athletes. His influence will be remembered by many whose lives were shaped by his guidance.
Eddie Caldwell Jr.’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched—with love as a father, strength as a soldier, inspiration as a coach, and joy as a friend. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
