Evelyn (Pohodich) Smith, age 89 of Liberty Borough, passed away Saurday, December 17, 2016 in The Palms at O'Neil in McKeesport. She was born January 18, 1927, daughter of the late George and Anna (Lazur) Pohodich.

She joins her husband of over 60 years, the late William J. Smith, who passed away April 24, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Darlene Smith; brothers Andrew, George, and John Pohodich; and sisters Vera Fulem and Ann Shyosky. She is survived by her daughters Georgeann (Ron) Stephan and Elaine (Jack) Bartko; sons Rick Smith, Gene Smith, and Duane (Michelle) Smith; grandchildren Jeff, Ken, and Ron Stephan, Emily McQuaig, Jonathan, Charity, and Julianne Bartko; and Jordan and Jenna Smith; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister Dorothy Gossman; her brother Emil (Dorothy) Pohodich; and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a founding member of St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church in Liberty Borough, retired as a teacher's aide for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and volunteered at MYARC in McKeesport. Friends will be received at the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412-678-3454) on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10 AM in St. Angela Merici Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Dominik officiating. Procession and interment will follow to St. Joseph's Cemetery, North Versailles. A special thanks to the management and staff at The Palms at O'Neil.
