Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | May 29, 2025

Joseph Michael Ero, age 66, of Finleyville, PA, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a courageous 20-month battle with colorectal cancer.
Born in McKeesport and raised in White Oak, Joe proudly served in the United States Navy for 17 years, earning numerous commendations and awards from senior-ranking officers throughout his service.  He carried that same sense of duty into civilian life, volunteering with the Versailles, White Oak, and Rainbow Volunteer Fire Companies and later serving his community as a Pennsylvania State Constable.

Joe was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and found joy and freedom riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  He had a strong spirit, a loyal heart, and a deep love for his family and friends.  Joe was the definition of what a husband and father should be: steadfast, loving, and always present.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Margaret Ann Ero; daughters Jennifer Heastings and Erin Heastings; son Joseph Ero, Jr.; brothers Bill Ero and Dave Ero; several nieces and nephews; and many longtime friends, especially George and Karen Ursta.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 9th St., McKeesport, PA 15132, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 1 p.m. until the military service at 3 p.m.  In accordance with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place.  He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, service, and the love he gave so generously.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com.
