Virginia “Ginnie” Esther Greenaway, age 69, of Pittsburgh, PA, formerly of White Oak, PA, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on October 14, 1955, and is the daughter of the late William Leo and Helen Leona Black Greenaway.

Ginnie graduated from McKeesport High School in 1974 and later earned her associate’s degree in journalism from the Community College of Allegheny County, South Campus. For over twenty-five years Ginnie was employed by Giant Eagle where she worked at various locations, most recently in Bethel Park, PA. She was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Angela Merici Church. She loved caring for her cats, Butterscotch and Samoa.

Ginnie is survived by her sister, Mary G. (the late Joseph) Weaver of Murrysville, PA; brother, William Joseph “Bill” (Donna) Greenaway of Buckeye, AZ; nephews, Joseph Weaver of Plum, PA; Sean (Cindy) Weaver of Wexford, PA; and William “Will” (Pachee) Greenaway of St. Paul, MN; and niece, Kara Greenaway of Portland, OR.

In addition to her parents, Ginnie is preceded in death by her brother, John Robert Greenaway; nephew Matthew J. Greenaway; and brother-in-law Joseph Weaver.

Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Ginnie’s memory on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412 678 6177) from 5:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. when a blessing will be held. Burial will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Remembrances may be made in Ginnie’s name to the White Oak Animal Safe Haven, 2295 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA, 15131.
