Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | September 08, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hilary L. Baker Jr., who unexpectedly left us on September 6, 2025, at the age of 76, just a week before his 77th birthday. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran who touched the lives of all who knew him.

Hilary served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His dedication to service and his family remained constant throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet; his parents, Hilary Sr. and Helen; his sister Barbara Hoak; and brother-in-law, Peter Lotz. He is survived by his loving daughter Jacqueline (Eric) Moranelli; three cherished grandchildren, Ryan (Kim), Michael (Lauren), and Jenna (Jonathan); his sister Marlyne Lotz; sister-in-law, Debra Gatto; and many nieces and nephews who will forever treasure the memories of him.

Hilary retired from Philips Medical Systems, where he was a Nuclear Service Engineer. Hilary had a deep love for sports and treasured the moments he spent discussing them with his grandsons. His beloved granddaughter was a constant source of joy and pride, filling his life with brightness and happiness. The profound love he felt for all his grandchildren was unmistakable to those who knew him, and he delighted in witnessing their growth and celebrating each milestone along the way.

His legacy of love, service, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Finally, anyone who knew Hilary would know he had just "One more thing to say..." His family would tell you this last 'thing would be' that he is with Janet- TOGETHER FOREVER.

Family and friends will be received at the Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 2 p.m. until the time of last leave at 7 p.m. Military honors and inurnment will be at Jefferson Memorial Park at a later date.
