Kenneth Lee Kitchen age 76 passed away on December 18, 2025 at Forbes Hospital Monroeville PA. Ken was born at Columbia Hospital, Wilkinsburg Pennsylvania on January 17, 1949. He attended Gateway school in Monroeville.

Ken was employed at Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) for 57 years and had just recently retired. He is survived by his wife, Patricia(McHale) Kitchen they were married for 58 loving years. He is also survived by three children Dana McMahan (Doug), Kimberly Ritenour (Bill) and Kenneth Lee Kitchen Junior (Kristen). And seven grandchildren, Lauren Connors (Adam), Ashley Kitchen, Kendal Kitchen, Alexis Mejia (Jose), Amber Kitchen, Lily Kitchen and Cameron Kitchen. And great grandchildren Lakin, Dakota, Benson, Charlotte (and one on the way).

Ken truly lived his life for his wife and family even in his sickness he made sure he was there for his wife and son who also have health battles from every doctor visit to every hospital stay. It wasn’t only his family who were touched by his sincere kindness, but friends and others who crossed his path in life, always giving to charities.

He also enjoyed living life and being with his wife, whether it was going to the casino, going shopping and especially creating so many special memories for his family from elaborate birthday parties, to memorable vacations, to magical Christmases. He loved making it to the grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on.

Another passion he had was cooking and he would often have a second job as a cook, one being at the Esta Esta for Michael Marie (who was like a brother) being his most cherished.

Arrangements

A celebration of life will be held January 18, 2026 from 2 to 6 at the Esta Esta in Monroeville.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that you donate to Ken’s son’s GoFundMe charity that supports his leukemia battle.
