James Barry “Butch” Detwiler, 70, of Elizabeth, Pennsylvania passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home. He was born October 30, 1946 to the late Frank and Lois West Detwiler.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Mary Jane Smith Detwiler and siblings Lawrence “Larry” Detwiler and Shirley Freeman.
Butch was a graduate of South Park High School and after graduation proudly served in the United States Marines. After 35 years of employment, he retired from General Motors, Fisher Body Division in West Mifflin. He also cooked on the weekends at the Rib Crib in Elizabeth.
Survivors include his first wife, Linda Wilson of Pricedale; children, Lloyd Fields of San Diego, CA, Sean Detwiler of Belle Vernon, Anthony Scott Malcolm of Baldwin, Shelley Parham of Donora, and Sheila Detwiler of Charlotte, NC; step-children Michael (Monica) Stone of Houston, TX, Brian (Vickie) Stone of Finleyville, Yvonne (Alan) Stone Saunders of San Antonio, TX; 14 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren; siblings,
Frank (Dorothy) Detwiler of Finleyville and Charles (Shirley) Detwiler, Maxine Fields and Beverly Detwiler all of Library, plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends will be received on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc. 449 Mitchell Avenue, Clairton, Pennsylvania. An additional visitation will be held on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3801 Mountain View Road, Library, Pennsylvania, where services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Harvey Hall, officiating.
Interment will follow at Finleyville Cemetery, Finleyville, Pennsylvania.
Arrangements entrusted to the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Inc., Clairton, PA.
