Katherine “Kay” Sas Valerio, age 95 of Elizabeth Twp., died Thursday, February 2, 2017.

She was born in Vintondale, PA on February 8, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Souvchyn Sas and the wife of the late Walter Valerio and mother of the late Walter Robert “Bob” Valerio.  She was a partner and secretary of Wally & Joe’s Welding Service in McKeesport and also loved volunteering at McKeesport Hospital in her spare time.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Robin Chew and her children Nicholle, Natalie, Samantha and Gabrielle Chew; and great grandchildren, Corey & Carrie Byrnes children of her granddaughter the late Cindy Byrnes; and many nieces & nephews.  She is also preceded in death by her siblings, John, Mike & Joseph Sas, Mary Skapura, and Helen Sterling. 

Burial was yesterday in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Indiana, PA.  Arrangements are being handled by Striffler’s of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services (412-678-6177). Condolences may be made at www.strifflerfuneralhomes.com.
