Mary Etta (Curry) Tarver 85, of McKeesport, PA departed this life Monday morning, March 20, 2017. Mary passed peacefully at home with family from natural causes. Born Mary Etta Curry on September 2, 1931 in Glasgow VA, to the late Mildred Frye Curry and Jerry Curry, Mary was married to the late William (Bylly) Tarver, and this union birthed one child, Tracey Tarver.

Known to many by “Mer” and “Gram”, Mary was a homemaker and a Bingo Lover, but she spent her life taking care of others. She helped raise her brother, Lee Scott as well as her grandchildren, Bylly Tarver, Autymn Webb, and Aisha Tarver. She was known to be lively and feisty and had a love for the oldies music and playing the numbers. Everyone knew her for her beautiful blonde hair and for wearing shiny gold clothing. Mary was a previous member of Christ Temple AME church and a choir member who sang alongside her husband. Mary accepted Christ as a young woman and also reaffirmed her commitment several years ago.

She leaves to remember her in love and to carry on her legacy her daughter, Rev. Tracey Tarver of Duquesne, Sister Mildred Cromerdie of McKeesport, Brothers Lloyd Curry ( wife, Carmella) of Las Vegas, NV, Lee Scott (Sandra Allen Scott) of San Diego, CA, Thomas Scott of N. Versailles, 5 grandchildren, Bylly Tarver(wife, Melissa) of Maryland, Autymn Webb of Virginia, Aisha Tarver of Clairton, David Stinson Peters of Clairton, and Daraun Peters(wife Angela) of Virginia, 16 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Smith (Benny), Eric Fields Jr., Quinn Smith, Joshua Arnold, Daja Tarver, Brea Tarver, Taja Tarver, Bylly Tarver, Zion Tarver, Davasha Peters, Mario Tarver, Courtney Carew, DaVonna Thomas, Davia Thomas, Mainyana Tarver, Naura Peters, and 5 great-great grandchildren Montez Jones, Jaden Jones, Kalayah Stevenson, Layla Jones, and Nathaniel Fields, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and bingo partners. Mary also had a special close relationship with Sandra Allen and Chaz Reese along with close friends Karen Elkins, and Dorothy (Dottie) Allen. She will be dearly missed by all.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Shirley Brown, her brother Jerry Curry Jr. and nephews James Cromerdie and Lloyd Curry Jr. Funeral Services will be held at Waters Funeral Home, 2326 Jenny Lind Street McKeesport, PA 15132, on Saturday, March 25, 2017, beginning at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Tracey Tarver officiating. Interment will be held in the McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery. Pallbearers will include members of the family. Family repast will be hosted by Creative Ministries Berachah, 1422 Evans Avenue, McKeesport, PA 15132 beginning at 3pm.
