Catherine Slobodnjak Korpar, 90, of North Huntingdon, passed away April 6, 2017 in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville.
She was born April 8, 1926 in Trafford, PA, a daughter of the late Marko and Helen Mikovich Slobodnjak. Catherine was a member of St. Agnes Church and Croatian Fraternal Union. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was very proud of her grandchildren and loved family time. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ludwig P. Korpar; son, Frank Korpar; son-in-law, Jean Pierre Kirouac; and brother, Paul Slobodnjak. She is survived by her two daughters, Helen Kirouac and Francie McCombs and her husband, Beau; son, Lou and his wife, Deb Korpar; three grandsons, Justin Kirouac and his wife, Julie, Brett Kirouac and his wife, Jennifer, Tom Korpar D.M.D. (Megan McCann); two granddaughters, Marla Korpar and her fiance, Patrick Dooling, Hope Galensky; great-grandchildren, John Pierre, Gianna, Nicolas and Christian Kirouac; brother-in-law, Joe Korpar and his wife, Dolly; sister-in-law, Eleanor Slobodnjak; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Norwin Public Library. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
