Dorothy B. Stash

Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | May 01, 2017

Dorothy B. Dembinski Stash, age 92 (November 19, 1924 - April 30, 2017) brought over nine decades of love to all who knew her.  Jab her with needles and IVs and often hurting devices, and you would earn a smile, a blown kiss and a thank you in return.  Her life was one of genuine, sincere gratitude for every day, even painful and challenging days being wheelchair bound for over twenty years.

Over the years she has voiced many thanks, in many ways.  Incorporating many things she said over time, her speech on entry into the Eternal Hall of Fame would read: Thanks to my sons Dave and Tim for being loving and devoted, great brothers and remarkable dads....to Patti (Kittiko) and Janie (Stegman) for bringing life to five successful and loving grandchildren (Lauren, Jillian, Kristen, Tim and Kara).... three grandsons in law and love Matt, AJ and Ryan for their devoted hearts....to beloved sister Beatrice Welesko for a bond and a love that cannon be measured or equaled, for being my strength and support and my best friend...to granddaughter Lauren for bringing  life to my life's greatest light, my great grandson Francis David Sisco, the source of my happiest moments...to all who made me smile: Bonnie with her halushki and treats and warm hugs, the caring staff at Briarcliff who attended to me and professionalism and friendship and family feeling, to all friends and family who cared and shared, to the medical professionals at UPMC McKeesport for their energy and efforts.
Dorothy is now reunited with her spouse Frank, parents Agnes and Alexander Dembinski, sister Martha Sivak  and first born son Dennis Alan Stash, born December 14, 1947 and who lived only a few days.  Son David, born December 14, 1948, knew of her thoughts and love for the baby as they spoke often of the life and the loss and the unfulfilled promise.
Her work at Balsamo's Market, Zotter's Bakery, her main career catering events and social endeavors taught her the values of reliability and responsibility.  Dorothy is a member of Corpus Christi Church and her life-long affiliation at the former Saint Mary Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church and her fervent prayers inspired her.  She was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Rosary Society as well as many social groups (including the First Catholic Ladies Slovak Union and the Polish National Alliance).  A loyal fan of the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins....well, there was little conversation with her after a loss.  In December she "danced at the wedding of granddaughter Kara and Ryan...her face framed in smiles for five glorious hours, leaving the reception quite reluctantly.  Love was the hallmark of her life.  If you knew her, you know that, to your good fortune.
Family and friends will be received at the Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory, 2703 O'Neil Boulevard in McKeesport, Tuesday, May 2, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 3, 2017,  10:00 a.m., at Corpus Christi Church. Fr. Steven M. Palsa will be the celebrant. Committal will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity close to your heart and spirit that would bring another smile to that wondrous face of hers.
