Phyllis R. Johnston, age 90 of White Oak, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at her home. Born July 11, 1926 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Leon F. and Irene R. (Pratt) Ryan, and loving wife of Charles “Bob” Johnston for 66 years of marriage. Phyllis was a graduate of McKeesport High School, and following graduation she began working for Bell Telephone as an operator until she began her family. She was an outstanding mother who dedicated her life to caring for her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love for teaching and helping her family through school was one of her biggest accomplishments and passions. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Cheryl L. (Reed) McGraw of Monroeville, Maryl L. Higgins of White Oak, and Rebecca A. (John) Kielar of North Versailles; grandchildren, Reed, Amanda, Jeremy, Zachary, Carla, Derrick, Aaron, and Terra; great-grandchildren, Noah, Madyson, Aubre, Olivia, Charlotte, Xavier, and Tea; sister, Glenda (Jack) Roberts of White Oak; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Aaron DeLandro; great-grandson, Charles R. Mihaljevic, and great-grandson, Baby Angel King. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Dale Vitale will officiate. Burial will follow at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.
