Samuel Thomas, Sr. of McKeesport, Pennsylvania departed this life Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 104 years of age, in Southwestern Nursing Care Center.
Born April 10, 1913 in Dixie, GA, son of the late Oscar and Ella Robinson Thomas; he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Sara J. Thomas.
Samuel was an active member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where he served as the Pastor's Stewart for forty-four years and the Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was also a member of the Pride of The West #84 where he had previously served as Trustee. He retired as the Owner of Sam Thomas Trucking.
Survivors include children, Samuel Thomas, Jr. and devoted daughter-in law, Wendy, who lovingly cared for him daily, Bonnie Peaker (Randy) of Baltimore, MD, Kathy O'Neal (Tyrus) of Atlanta, GA, Gary Murry (Renee), Ava Robson (Tony) of Pittsburgh; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Friends will be received Friday from 4-8 p.m. at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1350 Locust Street, McKeesport, Pennsylvania, where services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Geoffrey Tate, officiating.
Interment will follow in the McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
