Donna Ann Govanucci, 75, of Elizabeth Township passed away on June 19, 2017, after a valiant struggle with Parkinson’s and Lewy body disease.

Donna was the daughter of Robert and Audrey Helfrich of East McKeesport. Donna is survived by her daughters Renée Govanucci of Pittsburgh and Michelle (Robert) George of Round Rock, TX.  Donna cherished her family and friends and the thousands of students she so attentively transported to and from school during her 35-year career as a school bus driver for Elizabeth Forward, Serra Catholic and Woodland Hills School Districts.  An ardent music lover and advocate for the ethical and humane treatment of animals, Donna volunteered for MCG Jazz and personally cared for feral cats in the Elizabeth Township area.

The family would like to thank Donna’s many care-givers, nurses, aids and staff of The Baptist Homes and Bethany Hospice for their attentiveness and support to get through her fight.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 22, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory, 2703 O’Neil Boulevard, McKeesport, PA 15132. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 23, 2017, 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 101 McLay Drive Elizabeth, PA 15037.  Fr. Vince Velas will officiate.  Interment will be Round Hill Cemetery, 2131 Round Hill Church Road, Elizabeth, PA 15037.

Donations may be made to the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
