Betty J. Fern, age 87 of Dravosburg, formerly of McKeesport, died February 17, 2016 at UPMC McKeesport. Born March 21, 1928 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Ruth (Cowan) Norgren, and beloved wife of the late Verden A. Fern, Jr. Betty is survived by her children, Edward L. Fern of Dravosburg, Linda R. Turner of McKeesport, and Laurel J. Patterson of Emlenton, PA; grandchildren, Ruth, Nathan, and Hannah; great-grandson, Aiden; siblings, Naomi Gates, Christina Hensler, Donna Yakovich, and Carol Istuanik; also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Edward “Buddy” Norgren, Dorothy Lebano, James Norgren, Charles Norgren, Laroux Konar, and Emily Thomas. Betty was a loyal woman of strong faith who remained true to her values. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Elder Kenneth Mitchell will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to a charity or organization of your choice.
