Raymond E. Sprites, age 76 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017. Born January 27, 1941 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late John and Constance (Montana) Sprites.

A 1958 graduate of Clairton High School, Ray was an avid golfer and former member of both the Pleasant Hills and Clairton American Legions. He was a member of St. Thomas A' Becket Roman Catholic Church, was the former owner and proprietor of the Practice Tee Golf Center in Jefferson Hills, and also worked as a manager in the computer department at US Steel. Ray is survived by his wife of 56 years Charlotte "Ceci" (Whetzel) Sprites; his children Jim (Julie) Sprites of Jefferson Hills, Karen Absten of Crosslanes, WV, and Todd (Lisa) Sprites of Clarksburg, MD; his grandchildren Olivia, Ray, Cecilia, Taura, Noelle, Anna, Christopher, Jeremy, and Madison; his great-granddaughter Callie; his son-in-law Scott McCormick; and also nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Cindy McCormick, his son-in-law Charles Absten, and his brothers Russell and John "Babe" Sprites. Friends will be received in The A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 5th. St., Clairton, PA 15025 (412-233-5700) on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. A Blessing Service will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017, at 10:30 AM with Rev. Daniel Maurer officiating. Interment will be private at the request of the family.
