Joseph Hayden, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016. He was born January 29, 1922 in North Versailles, a son of the late Theodore and Anna (Zekrac) Hayden and was also preceded in death by a grandson Matthew Hayden; and his siblings Nick Hayden and Mildred Yusko. Joseph was a retired employee of Westinghouse Air Brake Company, Wilmerding and was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
40th Infantry Divison and fought in four campaings throughout the Philippines. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed working on small engines. Joseph is survived by his wife of 73 years Ruth M. (Leaf) Hayden of North Huntingdon; his sons James J. (Lynn) Hayden of North Huntindon and Gary T. (Deborah) Hayden of McMurray; grandchildren Brian (Jennifer) and Kristen; great grandchildren Alyssa, Shawn, Alexie, Jackson, Sophia, Greyson, and Christopher; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
